NORTHERN MICHIGAN : President Joe Biden spent Saturday afternoon in northern Michigan as part of his America’s Back Together Tour.
Air Force One touched down at Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City just before 12:30 p.m.
The president was greeted by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters and Traverse City Mayor Jim Carruthers.
The President and Mayor Carruthers spent a lot of time talking on the tarmac about local issues such as Line 5 and the Fishpass Project.
“What a wonderful time. A sitting president came here because of an issue,” Carruthers said. “Not to campaign and not to raise money. But to come here to say, hey, I care about Michigan, I care about your water, I care about COVID and I care about your recovery.”
The president then boarded a Marine helicopter for the short trip to the Antrim County Airport.
A motorcade then took him to King Orchards Stand on M-88
There, President Biden toured the grounds, talked with owner and workers, and took time to shake the hands of some of the hundred or so people who lined up to see him.
The president ended his visit to the King’s with a trip to the orchard’s farm market where he bought a few things and talked with clerks.
And after a quick helicopter ride back to Cherry Capital Airport, the president was back on Air Force One for the trip home.
