Guinea’s ruling party has nominated President Alpha Condé to run for a third term in elections due this year.
The president has yet to formally accept the nomination and gave no indication of when he would respond.
“Today you have all spoken, allies, parties and others – I take note,” he was quoted as saying by Reuters news agency.
The president is taking advantage of a new constitution to circumvent a two-term presidential limit.
The opposition – which boycotted a referendum in March – is likely to criticise the nomination.
The electoral commission had proposed the presidential election be held on 18 October but the president is yet to sign off a date.
