South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa has celebrated Archbishop Desmond Tutu on his 89th birthday.
The president said the archbishop was a “national treasure and global icon of moral consistency spiritual virtue and the defence of the most vulnerable people”.

Archbishop Tutu remains a much-loved figure across the world – principally for his role in South Africa’s struggle against apartheid.
